  • D-Day: Crisis On Omaha

    June 8, 2007

Solid Static has teamed up with The Combat Report.com for yet another exciting project!

After being asked to design and build the TCR web 2.0 website, The Combat Report asked Solid Static to produce a short, mock news film like that of a main stream media news report called, “D-Day: Crisis On Omaha”. The short film was released on June 6, 2007, the anniversary of one of our country’s greatest battles, D-Day. The film was meant to explore the question, “What if the Normandy invasion had occurred on June 6th, 2007? How would the modern media have reported it?”

Solid Static was responsible for the entire production of the short film, from shooting the video and creating the sound tracks, to graphic design, 3D modeling, animation, rendering and effects. While the project had a limited budget and time frame, Solid Static was able to produce a product that yielded huge results for The Combat Report.

The news short was first released on military.com and featured as the “Shock and Awe” video of the day. The film was also released on YouTube and after just 24 hours of being posted, received over 30,000 viewers and 19 honors. Honors include: placement on the YouTube #2 in the “Most Viewed News and Politics” category, #21 in the “Most Viewed of All Video’s of the Week” and #8 as the “Top Favorites in News and Politics” for the week. The video also spread virally to many other blogs and news reporting websites such as www.michellemalkin.com of the New York Times. Each of these sites have constituent bases of over 4 million subscribers. We are excited for our clients as well as the success of the film.
